Ndebele Style Multicolor Bead Bracelet

The Ndeble people, a Nguni ethnic group residing primarily in South Africa and parts of Zimbabwe, are renowned for their vibrant and intricate beadwork, which is a corner stone of their cultural identity. Their beadwork is not only decorative but serves as visual language of social status, age and marital status for women.

Our Traditional Ndebele collection looks to this traditional attire for inspiration, incorporating glass beads that have been the dominant medium for beadwork since the 16th century and the arrival of Portuguese traders in Africa. 

Our resin beads, varying in color as preference for each order, are interspersed with seed beads wired to form circular rings. Each bracelet is handmade in rural South Africa by our artisans.
